Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide keeps patients awake and allows them to communicate. This medication is taken inhaled through the nose and mouth. While it reduces anxiety, it also raises the pain threshold, reduces the gag reflex, and speeds up the passage of time.
Oral Sedation
Oral sedatives in liquid or pill form can be prescribed by your dentist. This medication is taken orally before a dental appointment. Although you will be awake during the procedure, oral sedatives will help you relax.
